Engineering where reliability matters.
Senior engineer, then Lead Software Engineer from September 2024. Backend services for cross-border remittances and payments, platform architecture, performance, and engineering mentorship.
Big plans don’t always need a full-time hire.
I’m Emile. I help founders, small teams, and ambitious builders turn ideas into dependable software. Architecture, code, and practical AI experience — for the part of the journey you need.
Define what matters, choose a sensible foundation, and build the smallest useful version.

For South African businesses, founders, and developers who need experienced support with software — and a scope that respects the budget.
An experienced engineer in your corner. Build a product, unblock delivery, or add senior capacity without a full-time hire.
PRODUCTS · APIS · INTEGRATIONSMake the decisions that are expensive to undo. A practical plan for your platform, your team, and your next stage of growth.
SYSTEMS · SCALE · RELIABILITYAI helped you build it. Let’s understand what you have, find the risks, and work out what needs attention before real users arrive.
CODE QUALITY · SECURITY · READINESSMake AI useful in the work you actually do. Better context, thoughtful workflows, and engineers who own the result.
WORKFLOWS · TEAMS · JUDGEMENTA focused review. A defined build. Ongoing fractional support.
We agree on the useful work, the scope, and the cost before getting started.
I’ve used AI in my engineering work since 2023. Today, I also train and guide other engineers in using it well.
That means more than writing prompts. It means setting direction, giving the right context, checking the output, and knowing when a simple solution is better than another agent.
“The moment you send that answer to someone else, especially in a professional context, it becomes your answer. Not the AI’s. Yours.”— From my writing on AI and engineering judgement
03 / SELECTED EXPERIENCE
From financial platforms to the systems behind everyday operations. A selection of work and experience across my career.
Senior engineer, then Lead Software Engineer from September 2024. Backend services for cross-border remittances and payments, platform architecture, performance, and engineering mentorship.

Long-term technical leadership across logistics and parcel tracking: architecture, APIs, automation, and integrations across C#, SQL, AWS, and IIS.
A cloud restaurant platform spanning front and back of house, payroll, purchasing, and printing.
CRM architecture, database design, client integrations, and automated operational services.
Online sales and rental of pet recovery crates, with SQL Server integration into the business’s CRM.
Selected career and project history. Company names describe experience, not endorsements or current client relationships.
05 / THE PERSON BEHIND THE WORK
I work where architecture, hands-on engineering, and real business needs meet.
My career has taken me through full-stack development, logistics, healthcare software, and financial platforms. Today, my work centres on distributed backend systems, multi-tenant SaaS, and the engineering practices that keep platforms reliable as they evolve.
I’m comfortable making the architecture decisions and doing the implementation. I also care about what happens next: how a team understands the system, operates it, and changes it without unnecessary friction.
Based in Stellenbosch, I work with people across South Africa and remotely. For fractional work, we start with a conversation about your problem, your constraints, and whether I’m the right person to help.
GOOD WORK STARTS WITH A CONVERSATION.
You don’t need a polished brief. Tell me what you’re trying to do, where you’re stuck, and the budget or timeframe you have in mind. We’ll see whether working together makes sense.
[email protected]I’m also open to conversations about the right permanent engineering or architecture role.
